Food for thought?

Again, here be spoilers and speculation... Also, this is my not-so-inner shipper talking, so be wary of that as well.

Alright, I admit it, I haven't seen the episode yet. It's not my fault, though, because I had every intention to watch but once it started my computer crashed down, I had to restart it and thus missed the bigger part of the episode (yes, it was that slow). I only came back to the scene where Dean walks up to Cas and hugs him and then I proceeded to sob grossly for the next three hours or so. See? Totally not my fault.

I am very, very very very suspicious of that particular scene, however (by that scene I of course mean the one where Dean and Cas hug and declare their undying love to each other). Mostly because based on experience, the show doesn't give us nice things. We can't have nice things. There is always a catch and a new showrunner won't change that with a snap of his fingers (but seriously, could he?) - that's just how the show works. It's strange for us to get what we so desperately wanted and didn't even dare to hope for by the second episode, so there must be something more to it, and I can't say I'm positive that it will be... Well, positive.

Firstly, we don't see Dean do these emotional displays, not very often and only under certain circumstances. Sure, it can be explained by his storyline and behaviour last season (because sometimes you really don't know what you've got until it's gone), and that he might have spent almost a year looking for Cas (since they have spent a year in Purgatory and Dean and Benny have been together looking for the angel for a while at least, all this time having a way out), but still, something stinks. We see Dean so happy in that scene - what must have happened for him to become the walking talking mortal combat impression he is now topside?

Basically, I'm terrified that he and Benny did actually need Cas for something, used him up and watched him die bloody (as the Winchesters tend to do, nicely pointed out by Crowley - and oh, have you seen Dean's face? He knows Crowley is right), and that all Dean said had been an act to get Cas to cooperate with them. Or they are actually making Cas to be the Mary to Dean's John, because I don't think Dean has ever been closer to his father in his behaviour and the only explanation I see so far is him shutting down over losing Cas again.

But if it turns out that I'm right, that Dean used Cas in such cold blood to reach his own ends, and if the show tears the rug from under our feet like that, after giving us this and toying with us so cruelly... I am going to be very, very disappointed. And depressed.

I'm already having nightmares about it! Fuck, I so should not be as involved in this as I am, damn it.
